  • How to calculate cubed weight?
The cost of shipping is calculated on the space your shipment takes up on the aircraft, if you are shipping a large but light shipment, the volumetric weight exceeds your actual weight. This is a standard IATA method. To calculate the volumetric weight of your shipment. simply multiply the length (cm) by the height (cm), width (cm) and then divide the total sum by 5,000.
  • What is shipping documentation?

    SHIPBILL
    - Waybill
All shipments sent with ShipSmart must have awaybill attached to each piece. This will allow for the successful movement of your shipment through the ShipSmart network. Each piece is individually numbered so you can track your shipment from pickup to delivery. In addition to the bill of lading, for non-document shipments, a commercial or pro forma invoice is required, as well as additional documentation may be required depending on the content, value of the shipment, and the country you are shipping to.

    Commercial invoice / Commercial Invoice

All shipments that are non-document must be accompanied by a commercial invoice. The commercial invoice or proforma is required for both courier and airfreight shipments. This is a statement containing all the details of a transaction and is used by customs authorities in all countries and territories to assess duties and taxes due. The commercial invoice is used when the goods are part of a commercial transaction or intended for resale. The pro forma invoice is used when shipping goods with no commercial value (for example: samples).
  • What are the duties and taxes calculated on international shipments?
Duties (or customs tariffs) are set by the customs authorities of the destination country and determined based on a combination of the country of origin (manufacture) of the goods purchased and the classification of that commodity according to a harmonized system adopted and used by the Countries that ShipSmart supports. International taxes (such as value-added tax or VAT) are set by the destination country. You will be able to view the total amount of applicable tax and tax/VAT for your order within the international checkout or on the ShipSmart portal.
  • Are there any additional fees on my invoice?
At the time of checkout, you can submit options to pay and fees prepaid or to pay fees and taxes on delivery. If you choose to prepay fees and taxes, the order total shown at checkout is the exact amount, you will be billed by ShipSmart and there will be no additional charges due to delivery. If you choose to pay fees and taxes on delivery, you will be required to pay those fees to the carrier when you receive the order.

If you have prepaid fees and taxes on your order, but have received a bill for additional charges, please email us at oi@shipsmart.com.br with a copy of the order receipt. We will investigate the problem and respond within one business day.
